A Little Story from Our Garden

gratitude joy natural world Mar 07, 2023

The trees and plants in our garden have been stretched during summer. Shedding all but their essential leaves, they’d closed themselves down. Thankfully most have survived the long hot dry. Now, as the days shorten and some moisture returns to the cooler air (but no rain yet), our garden is re-awakening with some new growth emerging. The summer birds have migrated north, and those who remain are starting to pair. Last spring we placed a number of bird baths around our garden, and many more birds now live in our trees and bushes to enjoy the gift. We’ve enjoyed watching them, never knowing until now how much birds love to bathe, even diving in. The doves have gone further, combining their pairing with their bathing.

Such a lovely gift, our garden.
